Abstract

Mach-Zehnder and Fabry-Perot interferometers have been proposed as probe for fractional statistics of anyons in the fractional quantum Hall effect. However, all attempts to experimentally measure such an interference signal have failed, despite the high visibility of interference fringes in the integer quantum Hall case. Here I will discuss a few mechanisms for the suppression of signals, and possible ways to overcome this suppression.
