Abstract

Recent progress in condensed matter physics has revealed that entanglement entropy (EE) can be served as a useful order parameter for characterising phases of matter. However, it is quite involved to evaluate the EE in conventional framework. In this talk I will introduce an elegant method for calculating the EE inspired by the AdS/CFT correspondence, which is dubbed as holographic entanglement entropy. Several concrete applications will also be discussed.
